Default Assembly

Help!
I would sure appreciate it if anyone out there that has assembled
a COBRA kit ,would offer a little guidance to me as I've bought a
frame and body that was used as a promotional prop, and have
no way to find out who made it, or a parts list with which to start
collecting in order to start assembiling my DREAM!!!
I'm located in Michigan and have purchased an assembly manual
and parts list from Shell Valley as they thought it might have been one of thiers ,but of course they gave no manufacturers
or part numbers with which to use as a reference!

You should have gotten some paper work with the car when you bought it. It will be VERY hard to title the car with out it. The origin papers should show the manufacture of the kit. Also the frame should have some numbers stamped on it some place. You can use them to figure out who made it in most cases.

Default COBRA ID

preguess,
If you can read the serial/VIN number of the chassis on the shock perch and send me the number, if it's one of two body/frame setups we have sold after 2000 in MI then we will snd you the MANUAL on the car at no charge. Previous owner should have let you have ALL documentation on the car.

Thank You, to those who responded,I should have been more explicite,as to how I acquired the body and frame! It was won on an E/Bay auction ,and located in Reno,Nv. It was used as aprop display in a casino, manufacturer is unknown and no statement of origin never existed ! There is only a plate tacked on the front left shock perch the say's" For Display Only" 9/26/96. The person that i won the auction from said he has had it for a couple of years and
that he got in in payment from the winner of it from the Casino, and was not provided with any papers, and I have checked here in Michigan about what has to be done to title and register upon completion.
Thanks and I will post pics in the very near future.

That "For Display Only" has me a little concerned.

Big Block/Small Block it wont matter if the frame is not designed for the loads. I wouldn't want to confront that issue at any speed, if you know what I mean.

Have someone knowledgeable lay their eyes on it and get a good feel for whether to cut bait. I am sure in the state of the Motor City that should not be too difficult.

I don't wish to rain on your parade, just genuine concern for another fellow bitten by the snake...

Good luck and keep us up-to-date...

I agree with Fox.

A tag "For Display Only" suggests a non functional frame. It may have substandard frame components, be incomplete, have tack welds only, etc.

Add the fact there is no serial number or MSO and you probably have a frame exactly as labeled...for display only.

Since the original builder was disclaiming legal liability for the frame, I would not use it.

Talking PVC FRAME

jschiller,
You maybe right, we had one for shows made outta PVC, and it got so scratched up cause we hauled on top, inside, outside, and a COBRA enthusiast wanted it for his shop wall so I let him have it after a show.
Now with the NET and pics are so common, we don't need a show and tell, that frame could be one used "just for display".
