Default Wanted: 391 Truck Block

I am looking for a 391 FE engine block to do my FE engine build up on.

LwCwb--

Curious why you want the truck block, I assume a FT block?

Lots of 391 FTs have been bored to 428s because of the thicker walls but there is one drawback.

Its got a larger bore for the distributer shaft than the FE so you will need a special bushing to reduce the size down to standard FE if you are planning to run anything other than a truck distributer on it.

Good luck.

That is exactly why I want the truck block. I didn't
know that about the distributer. Thanks for that bit
of Info. Does that bushing have to be custom made?

You can probably get the bushing from the distributer mfg. I do not know if there was ever a Ford part for it.

You do know about the difference in the FT crank and front timing cover, right? The nose on the crank is larger diameter, requiring a different spacer and timing cover. Since you only mentioned looking for the block, I assume you are going to use a FE crank, spacer and timing cover that will all match up.

i got a reman from autozone that is a truck block and it came with a bushing in the hole for the distributor. the crank was just like my old engine, the block had the crow feet webbing which is supposed to make it stronger. It shouldn't be that difficult to find in a junkyard somewhere. There are a lot of med and heavy trucks in my area (mid missouri) that have that engine type. Good luck.
