Any Dana 44 will fit but if you are using a stock Jaguar open carrier, you may have to sleeve the ring gear bolts--the Jag has a thinner bolt and steel sleeves may be needed to take up the space. I replaced the entire open 2.88 center with a PowerLoc center and any Dana 44 is a bolt in replacement. There are bearing issues on the swap so you may have to be creative.

Don't know what you mean by 'open carrier'. My unit came from an '88 XJS...posi/limited slip.
Also, what did you do to cure the brg 'issues'?
Thanks.

Open carrier is a non posi unit--yes your XJS is a PowerLoc so no ring gear problems. The bearing problems can be diverse--I had a XJ6 open carrier diff that I swapped for a PowerLoc, I had it assembled by a local drivetrain shop and several of the so-called standard carrier bearings had to be substituted. I also had to have the outer pinion race seat milled a few thousandths to fit the pinion bearing race. The standard outer bearing that fit the pinion ok had a race that was bigger than the original one. That may have been due to the particular r&p I was using, I don't know. I purchased the used r&p separately. In any event it was a mix n match session for the bearings and races but it all went together in the end. My mistake was buying all the bearings in advance then not using half of them. Final assembly price was abt $600 parts and labor, still cheaper than a rebuilt Jag PowerLoc diff.
