Looking for Front Hoop / 427
Whilst I wait for my ERA big block to be delivered.....I am gathering a few hard to find parts for what I want to be a good representation of a street car. I have located the proper fuel filler to replace the Lemans style filler and have the proper round end rear hoop left over from an AC Bristol / FIA conversion project years ago....but....Does anyone have a line on an original front hoop for a 427 roadster? All replicas (including ERA, Shelby, and Kirkham) seem to use a a very "flat" oval style hoop. The original hoop (fabricated at or for AC) had a compound curve and "arched" forward slightly from the top of the nose. I've talked to Chuck Gutke at Cobra Restorers and he has lost touch with the fine English gent that used to supply him with the original style hoops. Anybody know of a supplier?
