I have a TKO 600 with the .64 OD with 183 miles. I too am switching to the .82 overdrive. Originally, I had ordered the .82 and was sent the wrong trans. My engine builder said to give it a try and it just isn't working out.
My engine is a stroked Windsor with cam specs of 248/252 duration and 612/621 lift. The engine is still loping just a little bit at 1800 rpms and doesn't clear out until about 2200, so the overdrive just really isn't practical until 75mph.
The rear gear in the car is a 3.31, if I had a 3.54 or 3.71 gear the .64 overdrive would work just fine. Also if the cam in my motor was a little tamer I would stick with the .64 OD. The true overdrive is really nice to have and if it wasn't so difficult to change the rear end on the jag suspension to a 3.54 I would just change gears and keep the larger overdrive.
If you are interested in my trans just PM me and I will get back with you. But make sure you look at your cam specs and the rear gear before making your decision. Take a look at the gear calculator over at secondstrike.com under tech tips, this too will help out in making your decision.
