GM's Green Rod LS3 Engine News - from FFR
This is a smart move by FFR.
Green Rod's and Solving the Titling Dilemma for Hobbyists
http://www.factoryfive.com/whatsnew/...sema/news.html
"Further, we (FFR) are working in cooperation with General Motors on a E-Rod engine project that will work with FFR GTMs and likely other FFR models."
Other engine manufacturers including Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota (!) are participating in the engine program in California as well. With luck, our customers will soon be able to build their customs using these new emissions compliant engines."

Oh man, if FFR is encouraging a move toward a GM engine for WHATEVER reason, I think I'm gonna be sick.
Is there nothing sacred anymore? Oh the humanity!

The LS motor is currently being used in their GTM cars anyway. If Ford offers a comparable solution, you're going to see a Cobra on every corner.

Roush has been doing this in CA for a number of years.

Jay,
Roush doesn't offer a motor that will pass modern smog specs in CA for a special construction vehicle. The LS3 GreenRod is the only motor that currently comes with cat converters and a computer that could be installed in a new hot rod and pass a smog test for a 2010 vehicle.

No, not modern but to the standard of the "engine year", I remember they had all types of hurdles with the carb getting approved etc. Of course recent rulings on how the laws are used in CA might negate that, I have to watch it all from afar.

Jay --
I can tell you as a ROUSH dealer and a FRPP reseller,
- that there is NO green Rod FORD option as of 1-25-2010.
I am actively working on this with my vendors.
More news as it happens.

That's cool Steve. It'll be interesting to see if they can build a fully compliant motor with cats (or multiple cats) small enough to fit under a Cobra.
They've already shown that they can get plenty of HP out of a compliant motor, so despite the headlines, the world isn't ending.
