Default Bogus registration on the other site

I won't name names (why help out the registration nazis...), but a listing just showed on on That Other Site for a Superformance with a "1965 Ford" California registration, with the same boilerplate about it being good for no smog hassles etc. like an SB-100 exemption.

The proprietor REALLY should know better than that. I'd bet DMV knocks on this guy's door before the week is out.

They probably wont. -- some poor guy will buy it, who doesnt read this forum.

he will display it at a car show, and a DMV inspector (hot blonde with a digital camera ) will take pictures, and he will get a love letter from Atty Gen. Brown in the mail.

Yep. Unfortunately, it's a pretty common occurrence. People fail to perform any due diligence and end up buying a car that is not legally registered in CA.

To add insult to injury, there's a high probability that a buyer can walk into any DMV office with a pink slip, pay the appropriate fees, and walk out with a title that is still not legal in California.
