Post Registration Question

I am in the process of purchasing a BDR Cobra and would like to know how to go about getting it registered in Ohio as a 1965? I am told that there is SEMA legislation in the works but from what i have read it is not approved yet.

Thanks for the help

Hi Bluesnake and welcome to the forum! Ask almost any question on this forum and chances are you will get the answer your looking for!

Ohio laws seem to differ from one DMV office to another! I had to register my SPF as a 2001 assembled vehicle, while other Cobra owners have had no problem with Registering as a 1965. Yes, there was a SEMA vote in the Ohio Legislature I think a week ago which will allow, among many other things, a Cobra owner to register there vehicle as to what year it closley resembles. I'm unsure as to the outcome of that vote.

I have found that it really isnt that important too me as to the year on my Title. With that being said, if you plan on selling the Cobra overseas, there are some countries that require the "1965" designation on the Title for importing purposes.

If you are living in Northern part of Ohio please check out www.lakesnakescobra.com andif anywhere else, check out Ohio Cobra Club. The OCC puts on on hell of a good time at the annual LCS (London Cobra Show) in london, Ohio. The event is held over Father's day weekend in June. Nothing better than a couple hundred Cobra's all in one spot!

Respectfully,

Chris

I was trying to find info on the web about Ohio House Bill 199 (the SEMA bill that would allow replicas to be registered as the year they replicate) and cannot find any updates that give me much information. I know this bill has been pushed to the back of the line a number of times...does anyone have any good info as to the status of this bill in Ohio?

Jwilly, I was getting weekly updates from Summit Racing about the SEMA vote. But they stopped after they had the vote?! So who knows.
