wetdog,

Here's an excellent thread regarding the SB100 process.

SB100 Conference at the MUSTANG RANCH

Take a look at the original DMV docs that you have. At the top of the DMV forms, it should indicate what is required to complete your registration.

First step will probably be to go back to the DMV to get a TOP (temporary operating permit) so you can drive it to take care of the tasks that need to be completed.

You may or may not need a brake/safety/light inspection. You'll need to make an appt. with the CHP to verify the VIN and check for stolen parts. The last step would be the BAR to get your SB100 sticker.

1. Should have received a TOP at the time of paying your fees. If not, go back and get it.

2. Get your SB100 notification from DMV. You should have received it by now.

3. Make appt with CHP to assign/verify your vin number. Take required DMV forms and all receipts with you.

4. Call BAR appointment number (after you have visited the CHP) and make an appt to get your SB100 sticker.

5.Make an appt. with a brake and light inspection station if the DMV form says you must.

6. Take all the completed paperwork back to DMV and get your plates and registration.

7. Arrive at DMV about 15 minutes before they close for the day. Once inside, they will not close until all those inside are taken care of. Avoids a three hour wait during the middle of the day.

Just got back from DMV they made me pay for the 2 years my car was in parts for the reg. not sure if that was right but going to take care of it later ...got TOP , and I hope the rest falls into place .
I was talking with a guy there and he said that there were only a few people after sb100s this year , must be a sign of the times.
Thanks to all for your help ...the adventure continues WD

They made you pay registration for a period in which you were not driving the car? Something messed up there.

If you take your ride out today, you truly will be a "wetdog". Weather should improve by Sunday---or so they say.

If you bought your car and it was delivered to you in CA in 2007, then yes, they will make you pay for back registration even on "incomplete registrations."

Hey, Cal cobra guys, if you bring a car in from a different state that is already licensed as a 64,5 ,etc, do you have to go through all this SB100 crap? or is there reciprocity?

Well, there's a funny story about that. Notwithstanding the funny story, the oil has been changed.

Make myself useful? HA!
