Default SB100 number received on June 21, 2010

Does anyone have a phone number or contact at CA DMV that could tell me if any SB-100 numbers are available?

Thanks

You might give the 800 number a call to see if they can point you in the right direction.

Telephone: 1-800-777-0133

Best bet would be to find a DMV office near that understands SB100 process and try to talk to a manager or a supervisor.

I want to let anyone interested know that as of 21JUN10 there are some numbers remaining for SB100.

The only problem I had was it had been so long that this field office had done the SB100 dance, they had forgotten how. The manager could not tell me how many were left but she did say that in March, she was told there were over 100 remaining.

Paging Tim Brown...paging Tim Brown.

Get you car done and get one of the remaining SB100s. Too bad the numbers aren't like AT&T rollover minutes.

-- it does not matter if there are 2010 numbers left, if there are , great - you get one.

if not, you get temp reg until January when you get a 2011 SB100 --

not sure why we care if there are numbers left NOW vs Jan 1.

Doug ... got the message ... and it's amazing there are still numbers in June, not as many builds as in years past, that's for sure.

Peter and crew are working on it ... When you can snatch the pebble from my hand, it will be time for you to pick up your car ...

It's interesting that the demand for SB100 is so low this year, despite the fact they offered amnesty. Great window for people who plan to go through the process this year or in January.

There are a few possible factors influencing a decision to do it now, if you can, as opposed to the 1st business day in January 2011:

1. Temporary Operating Permits can be discretionary and can vary per DMV. There's no guarantee you'll get them, plus you'll have to visit the DMV a least a few times, which isn't my favorite place to visit. Less time spent there the better.

2. Who wants to get in line in January, very early on typically a cold morning? Summer time, when people vacation, things are more relaxed, sounds like a much nicer time to me.

3. Tax rates could go up next year, depending on when you start your registration process.

4. The economy can change (I hope) quickly. You may encounter more demand for SB100 #'s next year.

Getting it done sooner rather than later seems always like a more appealing option to me. Why put off untill tomorrow what you can done today?
