First , congratulations on finishing your car !!
As of last summer , not difficult at all , unless it has changed ... just takes some time . You have to have your insurance in place first and also your Certificate of Origin from the manufacturer . Fill out form 400 , Application for Certificate of Title and Registration for Motor Vehicles or Manufactured Home/Mobile Home and check the New Title and Registration box .You also need form 4038... Affidavit of Rebuilt or Homemade Vehicle and a copy of the receipts for the basic kit and the options . I stated it was for a 1965 Cobra replica . Back then , it cost $15 for Title fee , $300 for taxes and I paid $20 for an expedite fee and sent everything to the SCDMV in Blythewood . Two weeks later , received my title and went to the County office and paid the local taxes ... about $25 and then to DMV for the tag. My title from SC says ERA757 , year is 1965 and model is ERA 427 . The local DMV office will be no help at all and don`t even think about going to the local County office for taxation before you have your title . No inspection was required .
You can get all the forms you need off the DMV site along with the procedures .
Have fun ,
Bob
