If the sequence number stayed with the owner (and not the car), then our SB100 stickers would be stuck to our drivers' licenses and not our cars...

...which is the same answer given on the other thread yesterday. We sorta knew what the "scoop" was going to be.
I've merged the two threads to prevent further duplication.

Hmmm. Something is fishy with that. Not possible according to the rules. You got lucky somehow.

I agree, that is why I have asked for information on here a number of times because I dont need any problems.
I keep getting told that I do not need an SB-100. I keep wondering if I should go get one anyway just for the warm and fuzzys.

Do it now while numbers are easy to get. It costs nothing. A visit to the DMV and a visit to the referee (who is bored to death these days because there are so few appointments).
He'll look at your sticker, sit at his desk a while, then put a new sticker on. Done.

owner then you should be able to use
it on any new car you buy.....correct????

No. The sticker is stuck on the car and not stuck on the owner's forehead.

Ok, So where is the closest BAR place to Manteca? I looked it up and all I could find is about 8-10 locations in CA. Is that correct or am I not looking it up correctly?

Sounds like when we start an overhaul of the government the DMV is the first place to start.
When I registered mine I went straight to the local Auto Club office and let them take care of everything, mind you mine was listed as a 1965 Ford on the previous owners paperwork.

Call 'em......
Call (800) 622-7733 to schedule an appointment with a Referee Center.

Referee
The closest referee to Manteca is Modesto Junior College. Pratically down the street from Manteca....sort of.

The Auto Club or AAA isn't going to help you if you want to go through the SB100 process. Guessing that your car is no longer registered as a 1965 Ford?

Referee
Terry;
That would be on the west campus right off the freeway at the Carpenter Rd exit. It stays pretty steady out there. He does a fair amount of noise citation tests and engine changes.

John,
Thank you, I guess my procedure might be different from the ones that have not been registered yet.
I am guessing, DMV with my pink slip and registration then to BAR?
Is there an SB-100 application on line?

Visit the DMV - Apply for sequence number. Bring registration. No title needed at this visit as I recall, but bring it anyway. There is nothing you need to prepare. Not even a check. There is no cost for this process (can you believe it?). They will give you the sequence number.
But you must wait for the official paper to arrive in the mail.
Make a BAR appointment
Go to BAR referee with sequence number, registration, and title
Referee applies new sticker to your car
Go back to DMV with title
Title is taken away from you. You get a temporary registration from the DMV
New title arrives in the mail

Does anyone know the best DMV (sb100 wise) to go to close to Roseville? I'm looking into the amnesty program.
Thanks
Rod
