How much historical information can you get from a Cobra VIN?
Is there a national VIN search for VINs that aren't the standard 17 digit format?
I live in Australia and we are restricted on what cars are allowed to be imported from USA. I need to be able to verify that a Cobra is at least 30 years old to get import approval.
A replica on a 1965 title will not ever be legal to bring in to the country.
I have found two cars that are 1980 model Arntz replicas, but
VIN 22078040 has a California 2003 title, and
VIN WA8914xxxx has a 1980 Washington title with a "first registered" date of 1992.
Is there a search that will show any prior (perhaps out of state) history to be able to prove that a car is older than it's current title suggests?
The California car's VIN is the manufacturers numbers, so I'm sure they would have been used throughout the previous 23 years prior to getting it's 2003 title.
Thanks for any help!
