I was lucky and got an advanced warning on the PCV, it has to be a closed system (no open to the air breather). Made it through the first time. only suprise was the $160.00 amnesty inspection fee at the BAR.

I'm being very positive about this and it gives me an excuse to get a new carb for the car; the HP 4150 on it now has no emission port and really isn't set up well for the street. What type of air cleaner are you using?

Maybe because you live in Kalifornia, BUT, SEMA has been instrumental in getting legislation passed in many states that allow kit cars (all types) to be titled as what they replicate. If it wasn't for SEMA, you probably wouldn't be able to put aftermarket wheels/tires on your daily driver. You should do a search on what they have done for us auto enthusiasts before making such an ignorant comment.

TITLED as they replicate doesn't mean squat. Hawaii does that, so what? Other states could care less.
Who are these states that actually title a kit Cobra as a 1965 car that would be acceptable to California, or Oregon for that matter?
Like I said, my Hawaii 1965 title was instantly rejected by Oregon.
This SEMA suggested template to register your car as a 1965 is another open question, whats that all about? Like "title washing" seems to me the way to "get-r-done" is to register a new kit car in one of these states and BAM, your forever good to go, in all states (and pigs fly).

Check the other thread. Oregon titles them as 1965 all day long. Both new and transfers. They just didn't like you.

I have the oval 2-4 air cleaner. I have the PCV valve on one valve cover with the hose from it running into the rear of a thin carb spacer on the rear carberator and on the other valve cover I have a closed cap and hose running to a fitting under the air cleaner. What they are looking for is the closed cap and hose to the air cleaner (no open breather cap)

SEMA has just compiled a bunch of legal information about titling (and such) by state. Check it out: http://www.semasan.com/main/main.aspx?id=62843
Look at Illinois, for example, where a Superformance Cobra Replica can be legally titled as a "1965 Superformance". Such legal title is acceptable by CA for transfer. There are other states with similar titling procedures, which are also acceptable by CA for transfer.

jwd,,, what part of "REPLICA" are you having trouble understanding?
Oregon registration law is clear. A "REPLICA" vehicle may be titled as the year and model it represents AND the title is then branded "REPLICA". If your replica Cobra does not have the the branded qualifier "Replica", your title is incorrect.
No, you can't take your incorrectly titled 1965 Oregon Cobra to California and register it there as an original 1965 vehicle. Unless your an idiot that commits fraud.

Randy, where did you get the idea that California has to accept an Illinois title for a 1965 Cobra?
I don't see anything in the SEMA list that supports that idea. You can also title your replica Cobra as a 1965 in Oregon or Hawaii and many other states. So what???? California is under no obligation to accept such a title at face value.
Illinois possible registration qualifiers, from the SEMA web site.
Street rod, Specially constructed vehicle, Custom vehicle, Materially altered vehicle, modified vehicle, antique vehicle.
