Plates are finally on the way!!
The state of the state of Illinois is redonkulouis!!
I started the registration process back in September. It use to be pretty easy but not any more. I finally had the State Police inspect the car sometime in November. He was the same guy that inspects those home made trailers made out of the bed of a '71 f100. He had no idea what he was looking at. I wasn't there because he just showed up on a work day so Lisa had to answer his questions.
He thought it was too loud. (It was in my garage with a metal ceiling)
He said it had side pipes. (so what?!)
He said it needed to have bumpers.
He said I needed a front license plate. (give me a freaking plate and I will mount it!)
He said he couldn't pass it but he wasn't going to fail it either because it would create a mess of paperwork for me.
Let me just say, Lisa was awesome!!!! She started the car for him. I don't think she has ever sat in the drivers seat. She told the dumb ass that it was loud because it was in a garage, she pointed to my original models and magazine articles that showed the side pipes, quick jacks AND a license plate.
I haven't heard anything since that day last fall. I haven't called because I didn't want to push and cause more issues. Finally yesterday I had waited long enough. I called Springfield to find out that it had already been processed and the title and plates should show up any day now!
What a freaking process!!!
This is definitely the last car I build. From now on they will come with a title or I'm out!
