Default Just registered SPF in MA

I just got my SPF registered in MA today. They required the car be title as a Year = built, Make=Replica, Model=Cobra. They could not answer my questions on the emission waver process. I am looking for info on the process to obtain the emissions exemption based on the SEMA law passed last year. According to the SEMA law replicas registered prior to April 30th 2012 are emission exempt.

congrats...my understanding is know you will go get your inspection sticker and the system will fail you ...then you go to a MAC center for an inspection they will enter you in as emissions exempt...go back to your inspection gas station and your car will be in as emissions exempt....where did you go for the state police inspection?

kgs365, my car was used and previously titled out of state, no state police inspection was required. Thanks for the MAC info. very helpful.

I called MAC assistance yesterday. They are much more friendly than the DMV folks. The process seems pretty straight forward. A Mass ride sounds great.

I too have and are going through the Mass process. My car was titled in NC prior to bringing it to Mass. I registered it and then tried to get a sticker and was failed for emissions. So off to the MAC I went, there I was told I was not in the system and to go back to the Registry. After making numerous phone calls it was determined that the Registry would not accept the NC title or VIN. An application for a new VIN had to be filled out and the fee paid before I could get it inspected in Bridgewater at the Salvage Title facility. There they affixed a stick on new VIN.

Next step is back to the Registry to ammend the registration and title. Hopefully the car will then be flagged as exempt.

PS Trooper McAnulty at bridgewater was a good guy.
