Preferred Registration Make, Model & Body Type
I recently had my Cobra inspected by the highway patrol and they asked me what I wanted to call it. I thought I would have a poll. Please vote for one of the two choices.
1) 1965 Ford Cobra Custom
or
2) 1965 Shelby Cobra Custom
Wonder how this voting thing works......Thanks,

Why not a 2011 Superformance 2Dr Roadster? or a 1965 Superformance 2Dr Roadster? Calling it a Shelby just does not work as it is not a real Shelby.
Just my two cents worth, since you asked
Bill S.

I agree. Don't call it a Shelby.

My AC is regesitered as a "1966 Ford AC Cobra" Though it was built by ERA in 1994. The Vin # is CSX3483. " Maine the way life should be!" It's the state motto My tags; "antique" (based on block date) reads as "Da MAINE MAULER" Based on a 67 GT500 w/a factory 427 sideoiler I got to drive as a kid, and a black bear I have living on my land. She is a "Mother Bear" (the name also given to that 67/GT500) & tried to maul my dog when she(dog) got to close to her (bear) new cubs. Isn't life a HOOT!! Go with "1965 Ford Cobra Custom"

The name given by the Highway Patrol to me was 1965 Ford Cobra Custom. She asked if I wanted Shelby Cobra and I chose Ford, but I thought I would poll the group. MrMustang said it wasn't a Shelby, but it isn't a Ford either. The name could apply to any Cobra replica, not just an SPF. Keep voting, thanks!

I think there will always be some advantages to getting it registered as a 1965 rather than anything new - like 2011. For me, I was able to get my ERA titled as a 1965 Ford Cobra roadster, or similar. The big thing about the 1965 date was that my county property taxes are about $27.50 per year! Insurance was cheaper as well.

Ward,
How did the WSP inspection go? Congratulations, you're only the 3rd person in WA to get registered under 5585. I don't think some of your poll responders realize the computer options on make are limited for us.

D- It went fine. She wanted to see the serial # stamped on the frame somewhere. My VIN Plate wasn't good enough. She asked if it was a kit car. I explained the way SPFs are made and imported with the owner selecting the engine and trans. The original title had 2007 for the year. She asked me why I was doing it and I said so I could use my 1963 WASH license plate. She wrote down all the info and went inside the office and came out with the completed paperwork. No cost. She didn't notice I did not have a front plate on. She asked if I wanted Ford or Shelby and I picked Ford. She made it sound she was doing me a favor because it was really not a custom car, but becuase of the engine she thought she would let it go through. Not sure I understood that part exactly, but I wasn't going to ask why. Said thanks and left. I plan to get down to the DOL on Friday. It was fun to get out and drive for the first time this year!
