I sent email to a club I knew about years ago called the 4'ccs known as the Connecticut Council of Car Clubs. They have an internet site but I couldn't get it to link. These guys are old timers and their site shows they tried to get the SEMA legislation through a few years ago but again nobody showed up at the hearing. They listed people who sponsored the bill one of who is still on the Transportation Comitiee. Again it shows that talk and no action gets nothing!! These guys have connections.

DMV Business Services Unit
"I have contacted the DMV Business Services Unit explaining the reason and asking for the N & A of the CT Composite owners. This is definetly a long shot, might be a privacy issue in releasing the information. "
The DMV Business Sevices Unit has advised that the N & A registration information on Composite owners cannot be released. As suspected, a privacy issue.
When all the DMV records are updated for 2006, approx mid Feb, I will be able to obtain the number of Composites registrered from 10-01-05 to 12-31-06. Prior to 10-01-05, there are 289 Composites registered in CT.

Would gladly go to LOF building once this bill come's up. Most likely they will hide it until late one night so they can just do as they please with no imput.
Have gotten envolved in past on various other bill's and when there's little interest they just pass it thru so you never know till it's done. they basically
make it impossibly to plan on being there unles you have endless hours to waste.

Sent email to the SEMA rep listed in previous reply. No reply yet from 4cc's.
They don't meet until Feb 1 but not sure when they read email. My wife may be in hospital next Monday so may not be able to keep up with this. Anybody else volunteering to keep things going? I will try to pass on anything I get.

I prefer an Exemption to a waiver. with a waiver you still have the hassles of a test!!!

With the initiative by RENEW1, nice work, in contacting Representative Claire Janowski on exempting the Composites from emissions testing. some updates:
** With assistance from Ron and Brent, ( thanks ) looks like there is a good chance that a PM will be sent to all CT CC members in case anyone has not been following the topic and Thread
** The SEMA reprsentative has not responded to an inquiry from earlier this week:
Jason Tolleson
Government and Public Affairs Manager
jasont@sema.org
202-783-6007 Ext.39
** Following Thread posted for all CC members nationwide, should they desire to support the CT initiative
http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...281#post706281
** The link above will be sent to the CT Council Car Clubs e-mail address
For consideration, is a visual or additional items needed for the Transportation Committee members to fully understand the sport/hobby we all enjoy and are dedicated to ? Such as
* Jay, would it be possible to invite the Transportation Committee members to your facility for the Saturday sessions" " Show & Tell "
* For the public hearing, anyone have a digital camera, lap top and LCD projector to " show " a Cobra ?
* As many as possible attend the Public Hearing, anyone have the expertise at public speaking and presentations ?
* Other ?

All of us who may be affected by this should contact our state rep. with an email to support this bill. Just a short note to explain our argument should do. I'm sure if enacted, it will be retroactive to all registered composites in Ct.

Clark Creswell, SJK2 and ZOERA-SC7XX mention a very important item that I had not included. In addition to Claire Janowski, contact the Rep from your District, Rep directory of Districts etc
http://www.cga.ct.gov/maps/townlist.asp
There are 34 Members in the House Transportation Committee, listing with e-mail addresses: I do not know the rules for reporting Bills out of Committee to the full House, but we will need at least 18 affirmative votes
http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/Membe...=TRA&doc_type=
I asked if there is a group e-mail address that could be used to contact all 34 members with a single e-mail, or not having to individually build a group. Response:
" You can download the "Legislator Database" at http://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/menu/legdownload.asp. This is a Microsoft Access document. Once opened, select "Queries" and find "QRYTransportation". This will open up to a list of the Transportation Committee members and may be a better resource for you to use."
