Hi Ron. Yep, you are right about how quickly the numbers were issued in 2005 and 2006. I know for 2006, they were all issued by early afternoon. But my point is, if one makes the effort to get all their paperwork in order, be in line very early at the DMV on the first business day of the new year, then one has an excellent chance of getting a number. FFROG has excellent info on SB100 and forum members who went through the process posted their experience there. Yes, many also did not get a number and that is because they didn't put in the effort to be there early, etc. etc.
That rumor about bunch of numbers are set aside for Boyd Coddington, that is too funny. Boyd knows how to build his cars now and get street legal without the SB100 mambo jambo crap. Anyone can get a pre-66 block, rebuild it and put in all the goodies and all you need to have to pass smog is a PCV valve. There are ways around SB100 if one does not want to go that route. Did you know that if you used a crate 390 motor, according to BAR, your engine would fall under a "range of model years" for that particular engine..meaning, you as the owner can choose what year the smog ref should base his testing...so, if 390 was first used in 1960, then your engine would be tested according to 1960 standards.....you won't even need a PCV.
Well, January 2nd is getting close, I will be sure to let you know about my experience.

I don't remember anyone on this website who did not get a number. Get there early and be patient, it's not rocket science. No one should be scared from going through the process, especially because once it's over you can forget about smog forever.

All the doubters and people of discouraged instead of encourage....bite on this, SB100 2007-364.

Everyone who will go through the Sb100 in 2008, my advise is, it is not as difficult as many naysayers here would like u to believe. As I have always said, get there early (way before they open the doors), have all your paperwork completed, be patient as DMV tries to get through to Sacramento (DMV WILL GET THROUGH!), and all will be fine. It is that simple.
