If a cobra is LEGALLY registered in my name in another state as a 1965 cobra (that's the way this particular state does it), can I bring that car into California at a later date and have it legally registered using SB100? Any info would be appreciated.

Yes. There is a process called SB1578 that will help you get it registered properly as a special construction vehicle. Then you can stand in line with the rest of the people on Jan 1st to try and get an SB100 number for smog purposes.
