Smile Dumb California Questions..

So I am working my final assembly tasks for my Cobra and some questions came to mind..

1. Do I need backup lights in Kaaaaaaliiifornia..?
2. In the rear are 2 red and 2 amber lights.. Obviously bright red is brakes and bright amber is turn but which one do I make parking lights.. the red or amber low??? Be gentle.. I already did all the wiring.. Just hoping I did it right..

TIA

I am willing to be corrected however I believe the amber is exclusively for turn signals (european/Japan) and red is for running lights and brake lights. You may want to check with an "Official" light station as to whether you can get the amber lights OK'D for the rear.

PS: Back up lights are not required.

Red for parking lights.

when I got my brake and lamp inspection the poor kid doing the work was really at a loss. He had no idea how to treat the car, as a 2006 or as a '65. Fortunately I was able to show him the MSO where it shows 65, and explained to him that I didnt need backup lights or hazard lights.

Eventually we got through it. Be polite but firm, at least that's what worked for me.

Also he said he was supposed to inspect the brakes but he had no idea how to get the knockoffs off the car, and I hadnt brought the lead hammer with me, so he looked at the brakes with a flashlight and passed me.

Good luck with it.

Default B&l

I eliminated the need for a B&L inspection at the DMV by complaining. They can include or exclude that requirement at will.

I simply stated that I'd been driving around on the road for 3 months on a DMV issued temp op permit...and NOW you want me to go do a safety check? If you were concerned for my safety, why was this not a requirement 3 months ago before you put me on the road?

...requirement deleted.

2. All red lights to the rear.
3. No brake light on the dash.
4. No 3rd brake light to the rear.
