Tucson, AZ inspection
I recently arrived in Tucson from CT. I need to get my car inspected and I am looking for some input from local guys. What is the best MVD site to get inspected at? Whats the best day of the week to avoid a long wait? Any tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Al
Welcome to Tucson!
I'll send a link of this posting to John. He's kind of the hub for the Tucson group.
In answer to your question, my brother went through this recently with his car and thinks it's pretty much luck of the draw as to who you get at DMV. Probably the best would be to go to the one closest to your house. The one I'm familiar with is on Shannon road, on the NW side of town. Mornings are probably your best bet. Your probably going to get someone who has no idea how to transfer title on a car like this, so be prepared for "I have to get my supervisor"!
Not sure how CT does it but in AZ, your car should be listed as 65 or 66 and you won't have to be going through any emissions tests.
Be talking to you,
Larry

Larry, I was out today with my car. After dropping the car off where I have it garaged off Shannon, I passed a red with a white stripe cobra on Skyline going the opposite direction. Any idea who that was?

Red with white stripes... Might have been Mike Redmond's FFR.
I know his is painted that way. Has dual rollbars I think.
I've seen it many times and now can't remember about the rollbars .
We have a couple red with white stripes here but I think he lives in that area.

Hi Al, We are looking foraward to your joining our gang here in Tucson. Do NOT go to the Shannon Rd. DMV !!! They are the most incopentent people in all of Tucson. I've been there numerous times and either had to explain their own rules to them or just left in disgust, driven to one of the other two DMV's and got immediate and great service. I recently, May, registered a Cobra and I went to the DMV off of Palo Verde, north of Ajo. It took me about 15 minutes for the inspection and 1/2 hour for the plates. Oh yes, the plates will cost you about $17.00. As for the red w/ white Cobra it could have been any one of five guys. There are about ten Cobras within 10 miles of Ina and Shannon. And another thirty in Tucson. Please give me a call at 825-9197 anytime. John Oh yes, the best day of the week would be Tuesday or Wed. , avoid ( ! ) the days before the end of the month.
