Got mine . . #293 at about 10:00 am. Were a total of about 7 of us, first one arrived before 5:00 the rest of us between 6:00 and 7:00. We all got 'em.
Gotta admit it was getting a little stressfull after a full hour and a half of straight dialing by one of the DMV clerks and couldn't get through. Now it's time to get rockin on the build!!

Smog regulations have made it a bear to get a Cobra registered here in Cali. A few years ago a Ca state legislator (& fellow Cobra enthusiast) wrote & got a bill passed, SB100.
SB100 makes provisions for DMV to issue 500ea (annually) SB100#'s that allow the vehicle owner to choose the year for smog purposes. Cobras are 1965 model year, so no smog check, FOREVER!
Specially Constructed Vehicles- Emission Control
Without one of these magik numbers, you can still try to get one registered, but it gets a lot harder. SB100 is the easy way here in Cali.
jdog
P.S. I should have added: They are issued first come first served every Jan. They didn't last one day in 2006, & by the looks of things, I'll bet they won't last one day this year! So it's get'em while you can!

I came up with number 041, cost me so far $1303.00 at dmv. Guess they accepted the fact that I purchased a used kit for $8500 and I put a finished price tag of 15K for the ending value. Now I just gotta find time to build it.

Got mine #130 !!!!! Got to the Folsom office at 4:00 AM and was 2nd in line. Received #130 at 8:20AM. There were 8-9 nine in line at opening. I'm not sure if they all got their #'s (probably not).
Folsom DMV did a great job, very knowledgable of SB100 procedures.

I called DMV to make a SB100 BAR appt. They told me that I need to receive the letter prior to making the appt. They also get a copy of the letter. They compare information and then proceed to schedule the appointment. Anyone have any different results?

End the program!
It's sh*t like this that will bring an end to the program!
There have already been a couple of runs made, trying to end it. Armed with this kind of ammo the tree-huggers will make short work of it.
Where's Morgester when you need him?

LOL - The new Pat is a kinder gentler guy but being as SB100 is one of the most posted about things (especially around this time of year) I just could not resist.
Happy New Year to you as well, buddy.

This is bogus........ a complete joke. Anyone who knows the process knows this won't fly, and anyone who bids on this deserves what they get - nothing! (check the sellers previous items - DENTAL LAB RUBBER OCCLUSION WAX FORMER, CLASSIC DENTAL SKULL ANATOMICAL MODEL MEDICAL SURGICAL, DENTAL SPIRIT LAMP / ALCOHAL BURNER (GERMAN STEEL) NEW ).
Give me a frigg'in break - who would fall for this????????????
OPNYDR - post this crap somewhere else!

difference in sb100 and regular spcns
I almost hate to ask this question, I think I know the answer but must ask.
situation: Building a homade car, installing a 1965 motor and trans. in this case the regular spcns process is fine since the bar will rule smog not required on that year motor.
or if installing any motor newer than 1975 then the sb100 is nearly a must unless you want to make the car totally smog legal to the year of the motor and want to smog the car every two years.
I think all other steps involved are nearly the same except having to camp out at dmv on jan 2. You still have to get a vin number assigned, get BAR to sign off, and prove you are not building it with stolen parts.
I tried to keep it brief here, what am I missing. The above was explained to me by a dmv supervisor in december and she had the openness to say, "just do the regular spcns process, then after getting title and registration upgrade your motor to any year you want because we have no way of knowing it and we know most everyone does it this way".
I also think the sb100 number would give me the option to tell the BAR referee to apply smog standards to either the year appearance of the body, or the year of the motor. So do not plan on building a kit prowler unless you put in a pre-smog motor.
One reason for asking is I have access to molds for 29 ford roadsters and plan on building a few of them. I did get my sequence number for my cobra this year, but I almost feel guilty since I plan on installing a pre-smog motor that number could have went to someone that really needed one.
Does anyone here have info to correct my understanding or just tell me I am not being selfish
Hray.
