Default One more CA question: how do I know if I need a brake and light inspection?

The top of my paperwork says:

SMOG INSPECTION/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

* * *

REFERRED TO CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL FOR INSPECTION. IF THIS IS A REVIVED TOTAL LOSS VEHICLE, A CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL INSPECTION CERTIFICATE (CHP97C) IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE APPLICATION CAN BE COMPLETED.

* * *

I don't see anything referencing lights unless that is part of CHP Inspection but i'm pretty sure it's not, right?

I didn't have to have a brake or light inspection. And, I'm sure that the only other person that I asked didn't either.

That is the same as mine was. Required the BAR and CHP. CHP is first for VIN verification. Then BAR then back to DMV for plates.
