If (IF!!) there is a VIN stamped into this particular engine it would be located on a small pad located on the rear of the block just below the head on the drivers side. Most likely you will not find a VIN as Ford did not always stamp one in this series of engines. Of course as a fall-back you can always use the engine block casting number located on the passenger side of the engine block and usually hidden by the starter motor.........
