The original manufacturers certificate of origin, not just a notarized bill of sale (yes you will need that from the selling dealer as well), the appropriate forms from the NYS dmv office and any and all receipts associated with the purchase for starters..

Manufacturers Certificate of Ownership--------Provided when the chassis left the factory/manufacturer plant and only issued by the manufacturer. Without it, there is no clear proof of ownership from the current seller (Tom P.) to you as a potential new owner/buyer. If Tom states that it can be titled without the MCO/MSO, then have him do it for you as part of the contract.

Thanks for the MCO thing Bill. I OFTEN see it refered to as an MSO, which always leaves me wondering, "What the heck does the S stand for"? Even the English don't spell that bad.

MCO = Manufacturers Certificate of Origin
MSO = Manufacturers Statement of Origin
I believe it can still be registered as a home built vehicle (aka scratch built) of course at that point it loses all provenance

So I would need an MCO ( NYS DMV states ) or is a bill of sale and tax letter stating tax were paid. I have a letter of Authenticity ...?? A letter head stating ot is an MCO . ??

I thought the last ad I saw for a MarkV (the one or two existing currently) indicated it would NOT come with a manufacturers MCO (Ok, MSO). Without that the car, depending on the State, could be VERY tough to register.
I know in Hawaii there are specific things they look for on an MCO and will reject it if it doesn't meet their standards. Just because you get one, doesn't automatically mean you can use it effectively.

Ron,
The bill of sale is secondary to the MCO/MSO and is required to show that you paid "X" amount of money for the vehicle. The MSO/MCO is not state issued, but issued by the manufacturer only. In this case AC Ltd is the only entity that can issue a MSO/MCO for the cars that Tom P. has for sale in NY. Again if you purchased one of these cars from Tom, and he states that the cars can be legally titled, then have him do the paperwork and get a title issued for them before you make full payment or take delivery of said rolling chassis.
