Looking for a specific car CSX3014
Okay, here is the story.
I purchased a Shell Valley 427 SC car recently and my neighbor comes walking over. Says he heard me drive into the neighborhood. Says he could recognize that sound anywhere.
Turns out that my neighbor whom I only new as Dick, is really Dick Terrell, former Cobra racecar driver and track record holder at Sears Point. He owned and drove car CSX3014 for 3 years. He said it came from England with the single roll bar that went across the driver and passenger area, due to the fact that it had seen previous duty as a camera car.
We have since talked quite a bit about Cobras and racing. I would like to locate this car, as Dick is getting up in years and says that it is the one car he misses the most.

CSX3014 crossed the auction block in Monterey at RM in August 2004...
...lookin' like a plain ol' S/C
Quote:
Lot # 255 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 Competition Roadster; S/N CSX3014; Red/Black; Estimate $600,000 - $700,000; Competition restoration, 2 condition; Hammered Sold at $570,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $627,000 -- Chrome paperclip roll-bar, chrome headers and side exhausts, 6-spoke Hali-brand knockoff alloy wheels, Goodyear Blue Streaks, fire system, dual 6-volt batteries behind the passenger's seat. Restored to better than new condition with some stone chips from use and track dirt in corners. An original Competition 427, raced by Dick Terrell to SF Region championship in 1968. Originally raced in Black with full width rollbar, white side exhausts and no quick jack points but unfortunately restored in generic Cobra S/C configuration so its original identity is obscured. This is what it costs to own "the real thing", but it would be gratifying to see it put back into 1968 configuration. As it is, it looks like any other 427 Cobra and squanders its history to look like something it isn't.

I have private pics of the car from 1997 and it looked then about as it does now.

Thank you so much for the update. I will let Dick know what has happened to the car.

CSX3014 is my favorite original and the car I plan to replicate to some extent. (in it's current trim/color)
That's really cool that you know someone from it's past.

Rodney, Although I really have nothing to add to your post I just wanted to say I think it's pretty cool. It seems that most people who approach me and want check out my car always say the same thing...Is it an original or just a kit? And when I tell them it's not an original but it's a replica, they always feel the need to say they know someone who has or had an original. I could care less who they say they know because I am atleast driving a car that is more fun than they can imagine and I don't have to worry about insuring it for $600,000.00. But when a guy says he use to race cobra's and is your neighbor and your car brings him back to good old days...That's just great!! Thanks for sharing. Awesome pic of that car too. John

I showed the pictures to Dick on Sunday. He was beside himself, that I had even been able to locate the car. He was disappointed to see the original roll bar was gone and the color was changed. The biggest disappointment was the number, as it belongs to Parnelli Jones. Dick drove with the #2 on the car.

Wow, Looks like a car I might drive.
Love it, Really, I love the way it looks. Although I prefer the sidepipes black.
