Default AAA in California registration?

Hi all,

Just about to take possession of #479 from Jay at Vintage (shameless plug)

http://www.vintage-motorsports.com/g...479/aeh?full=1

I have had some great advice and information from other BDR owners regarding registration in the bay area (Thanks Michael). Looking forward to the process with a little trepidation, frankly.

AAA works for us, much like the BBB does for the business owners that pay their dues. Does anyone have any experience with using AAA to go through the reg process in California?

Any information would be great. Looking forward to joining the crew in the bay area very shortly....

Sean

Here is what I have so far:

Preliminary things

Get a plastic expandable binder from Office Depot
Put all receipts in the binder

All receipts should be itemized so as to look like they all come from different sources

Get a separate receipt and note from engine builder

Get separate receipts from Both transport companies (FL-„³CT and CT„³CA)

Registration-SPCN registration?

Get form 343-fill out
Get form reg5036-fill out
Get form 256-fill out???

Go to DMV-pay for fees/taxes

Get sent to MCO

Go to have VIN checked at Redwood City CHP by Officer Perchpin (use Michael White as a reference)

Drill holes in foot box for Vin Verification (near backdraft badge)

PRE-SMOG
Sit on temp permit--------Wait two months
Santa Clara DMV----extension¡K¡K.
Santa Clara DMV or BAR¡K.fail¡K
Back to DMV¡K¡K.request time to fix stuff¡K¡K.extension¡Kextension to SB100

It's my understanding that CSAA will not process new title applications, however they do process [existing] registration renewals and [existing] title transfers (and Driver's license renewals). I'm pretty sure you will have to go to the DMV for your title process.

Hi Sean,

Your plan looks reasonable, I'm not sure what get sent to MCO means.

Also the CHP will drill the holes for the assigned VIN number. In Gilroy they were exceptionally respectful of my car and apologized for having to drill at all. I wasnt clear from your post if you were planning on drilling the holes yourself.

Last bit of advice, after you get the VIN number assigned by the CHP go back to the DMV and make them fix the VIN in their computer. I had issues

Good luck,

Daryl

When you talk to Officer Perchpen, ask him if he can make the Title the same as the vehicle ID number from BD. Len was able to pull this off.
