Smile Registration in Mass. question

I have a friend who has sold his Shell Valley to a guy in Mass. The Cobra is not register at this time. He would like to know if he can transfer the MSO from Shell Valley to the new owner? How much trouble is it to register a Cobra in Mass.? Is it easier to register an out of state "titled" car in Mass.?

Thanks

Dwight

Alabama is an easy to title state. Get it titled there first.

Hi Dwight,
If the car has a Vin# and was previously registered it shouldnt be a problem. If the car is "NEW" and has never been titled or registered than there is a process to go through in Mass.I have done all this with my new at the time "ERA" back in 2004.If the car has no Vin then the Mass State Police will give the car an Inspection consisting of all paperwork related to the car from start to finish, once approved they will affix the Vin plate and the car is now an actual "Motor Vehicle" that can be Registered and Insured till then its just a piece of fiberglass and steel to them.If you need help or have questions feel free to email me directly. All in All it was fairly easy and straight forward but just getting to know the process helps

Smile title

Thanks sgianino, I'll email my friend this info.
He has built a Shell Valley but has not titled it in Alabama because they refused to accept Shell Valley MSO. They said it looked like a counterfeit to them or was nothing more than a glorified bill of sale. I have not seen the Shell Valley MSO. But the MSOs that I have seen are on special paper and look very authentic/legal. Maybe SV is saving money by producing their MSOs on a computer??

My friend has titled 3 or 4 Shell Valleys in Alabama in the past. We have a "new guy" in the state title office that processes assembled cars. Maybe things have change for us. Coach Mike titled his SV Coupe last Dec in Alabama with no problem. Something is different. Time will tell.

Dwight
