CA SB-100: South SF Bay Area knowledgeble offices
I'll be lining up for an SB-100 this year. What DMV offices are the most knowledgeble and process efficient about the SB-100 process?
Closest offices to me are Los Gatos and Santa Cruz.

Doug,
My recommendation would be the Santa Clara office. They have a good track record (despite a paperwork Snafu that impacted two people). They were pretty darn efficient and had three dedicated people working with us. As I recall, they got through to SAC in no time and the first cert was handed out before 9:00 am.
I've heard Los Gatos is touch and go. I didn't try the Santa Cruz office, since others recommended Santa Clara.

Although I was the one who got caught in the paperwork snafu that Doug references, I still would recommend the Santa Clara office. The DMV manager there has been through the process for at least that few years.
Just make sure that when you leave with your paperwork, after receiving your number, that you check everything in the paper pile for misplaced items and correct personal info and such. Once they have the wrong information, it becomes a problem. Barring that, it was reasonably quick and efficient.

I have been in the Marina office on a problem after the DMV
in Sacremento issed the original SB100. The problem was no matching vins between my old revoked registration and the new vin issued by the DMV and SB100 cert. They know what they are doing in that office and corrected the problem after I corrected the problem with the bar referee. By the way, keep all of your BAR and DMV papers forever since problems do happen beyond your control. I would have no problems using Marina and you might want to pay them a visit before the first working day in January to prepare them.

Doug,
Sounds like you are making great progress on you car
Good advice above ... and from what I have read here on CC in the past, if you do a check of your paper work at the DMV sometime in mid December and everything is in order, you should be in good shape come January 2nd (or whenever the DMV is open after the January 1st). Keep us posted!

I forget who it was, but yes, someone did use the Daly City office. I can't remember who though.
