What a great day here in St. Louis. The weather was gorgeous and the hospitality of the Gateway Cobra Club was fantastic. Lots of 100+ mph speeds down the back straightaway and only a couple of breakdowns. The weather tomorrow could be very wet, so stay tuned as we try to stay dry.

Well, you're missed it today. I logged 54 miles on the 1.6 mile road course today. Lot's of fun.

The day started with an instructional class presented by Don Barnes With Texas Driving Experience - http://www.texasdrivingexperience.com/default.aspx

A driver's meeting was then completed that covered track rules, flag meanings and questions answered. I didn't take many photo's since I was driving today, but here are a few below.

The only incident today involved the Orange Backdraft above. It was backed in to the tire barrier coming out of turn 7 onto the Oval damaging the rear passenger fender and taking out the taillights.

Non participants, wonder if they planned it this way:

Garage view

Sorry bout the fence, one of the 'Pro' drivers Dave Williams

Another 'Pro' driver - Aaron Quine in a Mongoose Corvette

Quickest unofficial time was 1:09. I think I turned the slowest at 1:30 on my street tires. Was searching all day for the best way to handle turn 1 and turn 7. May get another chance Friday as tomorrow looks to be a complete wash out.

Great Pictures! ' wish we could have made it this year. Rain??? No problem. There are some great casinos just waiting to turn over some of their cash, and over by Collinsville there are some "clubs" that display some real racy high octane models that will get your minds off of the weather...hehehehe. Have fun and stay safe.

Drizzle, pour, stop, repeat - all day long. Was very wet today, but we, well 14 of us, ran autocross in the swamps of GIR today. I didn't get any pics as I was participating, hopefully, someone did and will post them. Seeing Cobra's and other race cars drive through 3" deep puddles with water washing over the top was kinda neat. I got drenched and I learned to put your sunvisors down so the inside of your roadster's windshield doesn't get water all over it. By my last run, it was raining so hard that I had to turn off and not get a third time. By the time I made it back to the garage, I was even more soaked, I narrowly missed some concrete bollards since I couldn't see and had a blast doing it My only pic, the aftermath:

Getting some instruction from Don Barnes prior to going out

Water coming in to the garage area. Is that a blue coupe I see down the way?

Default Thursday - Rain Day

Not much racing today except for the Autocross. The local SCCA club did a great job, especially in the rain.

John, that was a parade lap That's Mike Bernhart from Wichita Falls, and is the same Grand Sport from my TMS YouTube Video. Mike bought me a steak and we is good buds Awesome Vette, and driven by a real gentleman!

The weather has been extra gross .. the Autocross was a submarine race. We did a new event this year I'll have to tell all about later called the "Barrel Race." Yes, same concept as the famous rodeo sport and it was a riot. We ran it in the rain and you can imagine all the spin outs. I call it the Barrel of Laughs .. or Barrel of Monkeys, as the sessions wore on

Today was road course day and it was raining all day. I ran a 1:42 .. compared to an unofficial 1:16 in the dry on Test N Tune day. No grip, even when I changed to the Billboards.

Gotta go, big party ..

Sam

Yes, he did. He had a friend with him that drove his car for some of the events. He took a trophy(plaque) or two home.

Purple Venom, Thanks for the update. The other driver may have been Mike from Tucson.

I think the other driver was Andrew from Australia a RF GT40 builder and competition driver.
