If you have not been to Run N Gun in a while we have our classes for awards but we seperate all drivers by lap times into RUN GROUPS. Meaning that regardless of your awards class you could be in a Run Group that has grouped cars that run within 10 seconds of each other. In the past we found that there were some really fast cars in Street Classes and some really slow cars in the Pro Classes. That scenario caused fast drivers to get angry because they were getting held up and the slower drivers got nervous because they were always getting passed and having to point someone around them.
We allow the drivers to establish their run group in their first session on Thursday. Then we sort all the kit cars by their times and all the pony cars by their times. We will sort everyone into two or three time groups each seperated by 10 seconds + or -. We found that by doing this the fast cars are not held up by the slower cars and the slower cars are not intimidated by the faster ones. We anticipate three kit car run groups and two pony car run groups. We only want 15 cars in a group so if one group has more than 15 cars in it we will have an A and B group for that Run Group.
At our first drivers meeting we may take a vote to see if a mixed class (kit car & pony car) session with one in the morning and one in the afternoon would be of interest. George has promised 7 hours of track time each day so we will have plenty of track time.
I have received some really good questions so far, so if you have anything you want to know about Run N Gun don't hesitate to ask. Either PM myself, Dean Lampe or Mat951 or feel free to post your questions on the board.
Thank so much for all your interest.

Sounds good Clois, I think the KEY word to go with proper classing is keeping SAFETY in mind. By classing a run group according to lap times is perfect in my opinion and has been proven to work with many other clubs. I have been putting on "Cough, Cough" Corvette events
for a long time using this same format and we found everyone liked it and racers rarely had traffic to deal with.
That being said, you will not intimidate the slower vehicles trying to have fun and concentrate on what’s ahead of them instead of driving with the rear view mirror. The results from that should bring more racers to future RunNGun events.
Faster group guys will enjoy their time too and everyone should go home happy with lots of track time. You can also maybe let people know that if they get into a predicament on track with traffic, they can pull in anytime and regroup and go back out. Better to have a clear head then be in an uncomfortable atmosphere in these beautiful cars we all enjoy. I believe Everyone has a race pace that they feel comfortable with, so lets help accommodate all classes and make them say they cant wait to come back & do it again.
You may also want to put on the flyer that you are running rain or shine (Except Drags) so everyone can prepare ahead of time. Pretty much all-sanctioning bodies (SCCA, NASA, SVRA, ETC) run rain or shine unless there is close lightning and then they delay it 20 minutes or until it’s gone. This also protects our best friends on the track, CORNER WORKERS who are helping us stay safe. Headsets and lightning is not a good match.
I myself am looking forward to racing, friendship and good times with the people that share the same interest/hobby as me.
Cheers,
