New rumor and need feedback
Guys drag racing is going to happen. This is a 98% sure thing. There are 3 issues,
The track is about 45 minutes from MPH. The final work is being done at MPH for a 1/4 mile track in 2012. The run off area is being extended for safety. It may go to a 1,000 ft track. Not 100% sure on these details yet.
For the guys who think they may be coming and drag racing, we need a couple of answers to these questions.
#1 The track runs NHRA rules and will have a tech guy there to check out your cars. They will make the call, PERIOD. If we go to an 1/8 mile run, the safety rollbars MAY be just the hoops that come with your car. Stock looking. If you go to 1/4 mile, There will be a 12.0 or 12.5 limit in time. If you break out, you will get a time out. This will be bracket racing on an index. If your car has an NHRA stamped rollcage, again this will be a different thing. There will be classes just for us. MPH is trying to give us the best bang for the buck here and still keep safety #1.
The drag racing would be held on Sat in the evening, there are lights. This will be saved to last to pervent damage to the cars and give us couple days of road course and autocross with a possible barrel race like last year.
I know most of the guys here have 12.0 cars without any problem some run in the low 10.0's. If this does go bracket, using a set of street tires like BFG's like alot of us used would be good for slowing down the car because of traction. I have a set of rocks that are 14 years old and like new. They don't hook for any thing so you have to walk the car off the line and then hit it. Just a thought.
Tire rule this year will be about wear codes. For street class, the tires must be a 200 or higher wear and molded into the tire sidewall If there is no readings, you will be put into the PRO class.
There will be a couple of small rule changes this year. This is not to hurt anyone but for safety and fun for all. They will be coming out in March or April. MPH is hoping for a larger turn out this year. To the guys and gals who came last year, MPH put on a HELL of an Event. Everything ran smooth, the class trips where fun, everybody got plenty of track time. The fines where dismissed for running on the grass. This place has LARGE run off areas and is IMO safety than Gateway, not to say Gateway wasn't safe to race at.
I know times are really tuff and it's a longer drive for me and others. I hope that gas doesn't goto $4.00 per gallon as predicted. MPH lost money last year putting this on. George did this because of his love for cobras, wanted to show us his track, the GREAT food they served, some guys went to see Gessford machine and put voices to faces, and the easy way to get to the track from Holiday Inn. 5-7 minutes was it. I hope that you guys will respond if you are coming. Any ideas are also needed for making this a bigger and better event. I will not light my car on fire this year for a test of the fire equipment and safety staff. Rick L. Ps staff did a great job, no damage to car or paint. THANKS GUYS

I plan on going to the event. Not a drag guy but I might baby it down the lane. I will see you there Rick.
Too all Rick is spot on. George and his guys really put on a great event. I am coming back just because of the great hospitality and great company.

Ok, started packing :D
Rick, as you know .. I will be at RNG 2011 no matter what. I would participate in a drag event if it was on-site at MPH. I am less interested in doing it 45 min away and on Sat night .. sorry, just being honest. I'm asking myself .. do I trailer over there .. or just take a chance that I won't break and drive over. Who knows what the weather will do if I drive over?
If I trailer over, I have to load up at MPH, unload at the strip, and then load up again to go drop the trailer at MPH (no room for trailers at the HI), go to the hotel for the night, then come back to MPH for the trailer and leave town Sun am. Ugh! Not worth it to me.
So this sounds like we stay in Hastings Sat night then start home on Sun. Do we know the full agenda .. would we normally arrive Wed afternoon for tech and begin festivities first thing Thurs am?
Sam
