Come on everyone. Get those registrations in to get your name on the RunNGun page. Only 9 so far (dad's coming too so thats 10). We need more than that. I'm confident Sammy will be ready!

Run N Gun
With the low number of registrations I think it would be best to reschedule the 2011 event to the summer of 2012. Seems like September is just not going to work for the Nationals and we best try something else to get this great event back on track. I would suggest the weekend of August 9/10/11/12, 2012. The Club Cobra forum has always been a great source for the industry and I do hope this venue can continue. With only five paid entries so far I can't have the event at MPH.
For those who have registered we will return your entry this week and I would ask for you all to consider the importance and future of this traditional annual event. Perhaps something new to get everyone together would be better. I will keep that date tentative on the MPH schedule but would be open to new ideas or locations. I certainly am sorry this can't come true in 2011.
Regards, George

I hate to hear this, George, but I agree and understand. It is just not viable with this number of participants. I will pencil in the Aug 2012 dates and if it is like this past August, I will be looking for a way out of Texas

Thats just bites. I was looking forward to flying up and catch a little fun at RnG. I guess the good news is that I will be recovered from surgery and will be able to drive.

For many people who plan on attending a track event iit is natural to wait until you can get a grasp of the projected weather before sending in your money. The problem with that is that for most of the ones planning an event, they have limited resources. Event planning takes a lot of planning and a leap of faith from the promoter to secur the trophy's, t-shirts, etc. All these costs are paid up front with an aticipated turn out. I have been guilty of this in the past but being the Director of Run N Gun for the past 7 years I know the stress involved in putting on such an event.
If you enjoy these types events do your event director a huge favor and get your money in early. At virtually every track I have gone to there has always been at least one day inwhich the weather was less than perfect but the comradery of the people was worth my time at the track, wheather we drove around drying the track or just huddled in groups telling stories and swapping white lies. Track days are some of the best times I have ever had and I look forward to the next Run N Gun or track day somewhere.

its a shame that this has happened.......
could R&G be teamed up with another event like the Mustang event maybe....
find a local auto parts store (like NAPA) to sponsor the event.....
call it Mustang vs Reptiles ????.....

Upset with CC club for no replies
This is an open forumn and over the last year asked for new ideas for the R&G. Little to no reply.
I have been going to R&G since 93 and completed since 98. Run Street class big block. When times where good I traveled to Gateway solo. 998 miles door to door. 17.5-18.0 hours of driving. Cost without and damage to driver or car, PRICELESS. Greatest bunch of people at the events. Cost out of pocket about 1,500.00 dollars when gas was low in price and hotel room. Last year gas bill was 2,200.00 for gas and hotel. Time on the track unlimited, just like at Gateway. MPH has alot bigger run off area, very few walls, same safety teams around the track and a high speed on the back side of the track with safe run off unlike Gateway.
Cloris H, Sharon H, Jay, Dean, and others all helped to make and keep R&G safe, fun, and a good time. Many years Cloris didn't drive his car because of all the running around to keep the event running smooth, people happy, and to make the event pay for itself. After 9/11 this event has never recovered back to 60-80 entries. I know some people get old, money is a major issue, vacation time, Family seperation, the list is long. My reason is age and 26 hours of driving. This was to be my last R&G. Have no body around to help Deb take care of animals since my mother died.
I here the London show is big with over 200 cars showing up for the 3 day event. Have not looked at the event schedule but see busy days without alot or any track time. Racing down a street is fun with the cops watching.
I just really hope that all safety measures are taken in the event of a car breaking and not hitting people on the side lines. 3 feet high barriades will not stop a car from coming over the top. You hope they do.
George took over the R&G last year, He put on a hell of a show for a small crowd. The people of Hasting where great down to earth. Even got TV coverage with the big foot ball game between Neb and Iowa that weekend. George was not trying to drum up work for his shop, just show us the great track he has built( with help ) and the hope of people to keep coming for the R&G event. Maybe like all good things, this has run it's course. I would like to think it will continue next year. The Location is in middle of the country to try and make it easy for all to attend.
Again asking for ideas about what to add, change and how to improve this event have people come back. Next year there will be an 1/8 mile race track. IF we get enough cars, we could have a town parade and race down main street Hastings too. Rick L. ps in the works MPH is looking at building open garages like Gateway with air and electric.

I could drive the car this year because of shoulder issues, but I was planning on flying up and see my Mom and then to R-n-G. Its a great time and the people make it that way. Its really the people that make the event fun. George put on a great event last year and I will be back when and where ever it is held.

I would have liked to have attended. But, family medical issues and my business were keeping me away last year and this one too. I hope the event doesn't end. It's a lot of fun. John
