Default Why you should attend Run N Gun 2012

In these times of uncertainty it is nice to know that you are holding on to a piece of the past that reminds us of a "Kinder/Gentler" time. These Cobra's and Kit Cars in General represent a time that was less complicated and more rewarding, IMO.

So, gather up your Kinder/Gentler monster and bring it to this years Run N Gun. For one of the first times in a long time we are going to put our prized investiments on a track that is Cobra (Kit Car Friendly). I mean there are no 14" concrete walls to ruin your day should you make a little mistake.

Hallet is a great track for beginners as well as the very experienced road race drivers. Don't think that if you are a beginner that you will be tossed in a run group with a bunch of hot shoes that will be all over you while you are trying to learn your skilla as well as the track, It won't happen. If you are a beginner we will have driving instructors to help you learn the rights and wrongs of driving and the track. Additionally, there are 4 different events that may provide you with some nice hardware to take home to show your friends.

Included with your registration is the use of a timing transponder (if you dont' have one), vinyl car numbers if needed, one event t-shirt, one place at the Saturday night banquet and a whole lot of fun. Additional banquet places and t-shirts can be purchased if you like.

This is a great long runnign event (25 years) that allows us to test our skill as a driver and put our cars through the paces on a 1.8 mile road course. Four (4) seperate venues will offer a challenging event that will favor different driver styles.

I would encourage you to sign up as soon as possible as the race ports will be assigned on a first come first served basis. Visit our website for additional information at Run 'N Gun

Of course if you have any questions please give me a call at 918-633-5336 or contact one of our other directors (Dean Lampe or Mat Twiehaus).

Thank you,

Clois Harlan

In short because we want you to enjoy the event as much as we have in the past. Great time with fellow owners and an opportunity to improve your driving experience. As a bonus you just might become the overall champion or at least become an segment champion. This is a great time that anyone that has attended in the past will attest too.

Join us if you can. We have classes for new and experienced drivers that will not only benifit you at the track but also everyday on the freeways and country roads.

Thanks for spearheading this again Clois. I know its a lot of work making all this happen. I can't wait for this years event b/c I have no doubt it will be a great one. I've met some great friends at these events and hope to meet some new ones this year.

For those of you who don't know me, my dad and I both attend these events now and I know he looks forward to it as much as I do. He's also brought some of his friends to these events who have been bitten by the bug and will keep coming back. Bring family and friends out as well, you may get one of them hooked too.

I encourage anyone interested in attending to sign up ASAP and get those garage spaces, as the shade is nice. Go ahead and cement it on your busy calenders and start tweaking those machines!

Mat

Is anyone out there on the fence about coming? If you have ANY questions, post 'em up here. The reasons are many, but mainly to meet and hang out with new/old friends. Worried you will break something? Well, maybe it's best to happen on a track where there are lots of people to help you. I've attended 8 track events and have had to replace a water pump and a fuel pump. That is it. I've not broken anything nor been scared to be on the track. So, come on out, ENJOY your car!

Tim, You have improved so much it's crazy! I remember your first run and Gun. What a difference a little track time can make!

I am going to be in the new SL-C this year. Its not a cobra or a GT40 and what really makes it worse, it has a Chevy in it! (It isn't leaking on my garage floor either!)

Anyway, Run n Gun is a great excuse to hang out with other car guys and have a great time.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there again this year.

Dean, thanks. It was at your and Clois' urging that I started. Just needed a gentle push I guess. My goal right now is to keep ahead of Mark. He's come a long way too, and with recent changes to his car, he will be a beast at RunNGun.

BTW Dean - need to update your signature with the new website address
