Yeah, I'm sure there are different bungee rings on different cars. Thought I had a better pic but can't find it at the moment.
Here's the best one I could find:

Step one was paper, now thin board before going to ally.
Plan is to make aluminum flares with the bead rolled on the edge to give it a real authentic look.

No, not at all, like CSX2128 they will be left original.
Keep us informed.

Jeff,
Just looking at those front end shots on post 28.
The quadrilaterals formed by the 4 anchor points on the leaf spring and A arm, either side of centerline must have changed interior angles considerably when deflecting under load. Has anyone ever expressed an opinion on what this did to camber, and similarly, rearward deflection of the leaf, do to caster. In relation to handling I mean.
I know you are a busy man, but humor me please

the leaf spring cars had completely variable suspension, while you were driving them, caster, camber, roll centre, bump steer, etc. Few men could drive them fast back in the day, probably less today. be carefull out there.

Mr Bruce
This will not be anything like a coil sprung car for sure. The old buggy springs are crazy to drive.
As the spring deflects it changes length thus camber really changes positive and negative depending upon what part of the wheel stroke you are in. That is why the early drivers needed to be so skilled as they were driving cars that literally changed geometry as they raced.

I think the fifth appendage is the one needed to drive these things quickly.

I've always read these were better handling / performing cars than the 427 . I also read the weight of the 289 did an interesting thing to the suspension /frame , basically pulling d down on the leaves , in turn giving a constant wheel to road connection . Am I reading this wrong ?

Carroll Shelby once told us, "The chassis flex in the early Cobra is part of the suspension. People try to stiffen them up, which kills the handling and the ride."

That chassis/suspension combination won numerous races in its day. Ask Ferrari. More importantly, it is what they were. If you want a BMW, buy one.
Your car is looking neat Jeff. I wish you lots of smiles ahead.
