Differential updates.....
Made custom brackets to ally the use of a Jaguar 4HU differential in a 289 transverse leaf type A-frame. We had made the brackets using a diffy jig set up from a Shelby differential. This means correct alignment.
Test/dry fit went well and it looks to work. The benefit is that you can use a Salisbury diff made by Jaguar in a 289 chassis = more affordable direction without sacrificing original type hardware!
Benefits:
1) Jaguar diffy with Thornton posi easy to find in good working order <$1000
2) Parts are plentiful for Jag diff
3) Saves about $3000 = Win Win
Trying to post pictures.

Unroll that piece of paper behind it and put it under them for the next photo. Sheesh how can I employ you as promotional photgrapher.

Hi Jeff,
Do you or Mick have a picture of the side brackets mounted or a picture of them held up close to where they go? The bolt for the lower mount, is that a through bolt? Or does it take a bolt from each end? If it is a bolt from each end, is there threads in the end of the bushings or what? How does it work? Thanks Mark

Hey Mark, I was trying to get it all pretty before a picture but here you go
As you've figured out already there isn't enough room for a through bolt. I use a 5/8 fine thread coupling nut in the centre with a hole drilled in it to reach in and stop it turning. Then it gets a shorty bolt each side.

Thanks for the pictures. I really didn't give it a thought about the through bolt. After I read the previous post, I had to get my plans out. Now it is obvious that you can't put a 6 3/4" bolt in, there is not enough room to insert it. Jeff, if you get a chance before you install the rear end, click a few pictures of the center section with the brackets installed. Thanks Mark

I make or have available all parts for 427's and most of the 289. I make a lot of Contemporary (out of business) and other hard to find parts for original and high end replicas with attention to detail and originality. With the axle adapter plates as pictured $400.
