My bellhousing is stock Ford item made of aluminum. I know that many guys are after the steel as a clutch can explode however I have never had that issue and feel that a true FOMOCO part is just fine.
Stock clutch planned however I am looking at lightweight set up as an alternative to reduce spinning weight. Helps on the 2-3rd change.
No drive shaft yet.....
The engine offset to the right, have to go with Nick as the car is not in my possesion to measure.

That`s as good as it gets Jeff. You`ll find that getting the battery in and out is fun once the body covers it.Be careful as my friend let the battery slip and acid spilled all over the place!

The early CI bellhousings are out there. I picked one up last year for not too much money. I plan to pull the motor this year & replace the Almnm I have in there. Chances are I'll never need it, but it's just not a chance I want to take. I kinda like having legs to walk on

Jeff there has been a lot of talk about these glovebox latchs. How do they come apart.
I see the nut to tighten it . But does the it all come apart from the front or back. Mark

It has a blind allen nut underneath the chrome pull. This allows it to come apart for rebuild, cleaning, new lockset etc......
They are scarce in fully lockable mode. The Cobra Restorer part is a good looking part just not lockable. Not sure is is necessary to lock anyway as it is a space that I would not use for valuables.

Well, you can't have mine I know they aren't as common as the 6 bolt, but they are out there. I actually was thinking of re popping them when I worked at the foundry, but there were some personalities I didn't feel confident in maneuvering through to get it done. Too bad... Mine came up on Ebay & I have seen them up a few times when I had been looking. Set up a saved search & you will be alerted if one pops up. Sometimes, like in my instance, no one bids on them because the are the 5 bolt or no one is looking at the time. I will keep my eyes peeled, as well.

You probably already know this but I have personally seen two types of CI Bellhousing for the 5 bolt pattern. Mine says "HRA" on it. I assume this pre dates "NHRA", was before I was born... I have also seen the COBRA bellhousing which is marked across the top just like the 6Bolt CI Cobra Bellhousing. Bob Shaw Has or Had(I assume he still has it) a Unique I looked at years ago when i was trying to decide which car to build. His had the 5Bolt Cobra Bellhousing. It's a long shot, but you might get in contact with him to find out if he still has the car or maybe knows of another bellhousing. Performance & appearance products for Cobra enthusiasts

Fran Kress has a C.I one with COBRA stamped on it
I was going to copy and recast but after costing it out against potential return not worthwhile but nice for the one off rebuilds.I cant remember if his 5or6 bolt, but I think 5 bolt which made it even less "worthwhile".

Less worthwhile? I don't think so. I think some of us replica freaks would be all over it. The lack of popularity of the 64 block is, in large, due to the fact that there is no good racing bellhousing. I would have re-popped them, had the situation been better. The drawback with re-mfg them is that a new pattern needs to be made, to do it accurately. If one were to use the original bellhousing as a pattern, the copy would come out about 1/8" smaller, due to the cast iron(Ductile Iron) shrinkage rate. With that said, there is now a mfg on ebay making a bellhousing for the 5 bolt pattern. It isn't CI, nor accurate for Cobra Replica use...but it looks as if there is now an option! The Bellhousings are out there, diligence will produce one in time

whats your guess of how many cobra freaks out there are using 289/302 5 bolt blocks first of all and then what percentage would bother to choose a correct repop against a cheaper one? As you rightly say it`s costly and to get some return on that outlay makes it in my opinion "not worthwhile"
Having said that, I hope someone ,with a lot more money than I, does do it.

I don't want to totally derail the thread, sorry guys , but its not that expensive & we are talking more than just Cobras. My CI housing has HRA stamped on it. If you were to stamp Cobra on it, I'm sure royalties would make it pretty pricey.
