I wonder if you put 2259 up on a lift today if you could see if that minor fender bender might have left a couple of small scratches underneath?

Although being cut up and thrown in a dumpster might have left a few small marks too.

The Cobra represented today as 2259 is not the actual 2259, it was destroyed at Sebring in 1964. Please reference the Registry as to 2259s history.

Yes I know that. That is why I mentioned it being cut up and put in a dumpster...

Ouch! I've seen a number of screens. The individual horn screens allow for easy idle adjustments & seem to seal out any debris. It's an imperfect method, regardless of which way you go.

Hyde

I was considering adding metal screen via a small bit of silicone adhesive on the edge.

Didn't you do that route before ..................

Tea strainers with polyurethane rings to hold them on. Isn't much for looks but easily removed/installed

K@N makes a nice filter, 1 per carb 4 needed.
Is there enough hood clearance to run a good air cleaner?
I would think to much risk not running filters!

I don't have room for those............
Carbs alone are <1" from hood...........

Those are the rings with just a flat mesh. The tea strainers are a really fine mesh & are dome shaped. I'll snap a shot later.

You really need a big box/filter assembly for Airflow. Small individual stack filters can restrict the airflow enough to piss of webers.

K@N part number 56-1230 If I remember right k@n offer shorter filters as well.
This filter mounts to the top plate of carb, the stacks fit inside the filter.
We ran these on our race cars years ago and did not seem to have any ill affect.
I would think having 1 inch or less hood clearance would cause some issues?
When you think about it, if you have the hood sitting that close to the top of the carburetor why would the air cleaner top be any different?

If it would fit in there, sure! I don't have an exect clearance number, off the top of my head but, I can see the webers through the scoop, on my car. It'd be interesting to see if a premade box would fit in there.

Well as great as K&N are; they look goofy to me.
Will stick with screens.
Guess they may fit on some cars as the engine sits low in many replicas and in higher in mine, more accurate. They sit higher never saw those in originals?
Might work, just not for me.

Screens work for my application and personal likes.
Was thinking of using light screens doubled up with my Weber screen rubber?
Either way it will work.
Like the tea strainer idea.......

What does everyone think of my interior plan wo carpet?

Sorry, had a few unexpected bumps this morning & didn't snap a pic. It's really the same as the pic above with dome shaped screens. The mesh on the tea infusers is really fine. Dust will certainly get through, nothing much more than that. The infusers matched the horn size & the urethane rings hold it together, no problems as of yet. The rings were caps which i bought from McMaster Carr. Wish I could find them in black or red.
