My Cobra is finished-My new project
I have had a dream of building my own car. I wanted late 50's sports/racer styling and modern components. I have built 5 different ones from scratch since 2000. In 2007 I built a chassis that used the entire drivetrain from a C5 Vette. I have raced the chassis and I was completely happy with it. I made 2 different bodies that were close to what I wanted but not completely there. I am trying again. This car has the stock C5 wheelbase, weighs under 1900lbs, is 38 inches to the top of the headfairings and 77 inches wide at the rear fenders.
I took my recently completed Cobra for a drive yesterday. When I got home I rolled out the frame and body of my Speedster. I took a picture and penciled in vents, a wrap around windscreen, and gave it some Sharpie wheels! This car has a shorter hood, longer cockpit and reworked fenders then my last version. I like it. I hope it's the last one. I am tired of body work!
My hats off to any one that builds their own car.
