Oh ok, I got ya. took your advice on the radiator and it turned out great. Also the driveshaft guy finished the driveshaft today, it fits well.

Have you considered putting in a drive shaft loop just in case some thing comes loose? Better safe than sorry.
Looks like you are really cruising along. I've had mine 3 years and I'm barely half way.

If this was MY car I would, But I'm building this car to turn a profit and keep my boss happy. My boss want's me to do everything half ass, but I refuse to. All the guidelines my boss gave me for building this car is "as cheap as possible" I've been using alot of junk yard and used parts but I will not jerryrig anything. But a drive shaft loop is not in the plans. Anybody want to take over a resto shop in nashville TN, that gives a f#*k about quality, I bet my boss will sell out cheap.

That's a shame your boss has that mind set on the build. I just hope he represents the vehicle for what it really is and doesn't crush the hopes and dreams of a possible new member to this forum. It looks like you are doing the best you can to make this as quality a build as you can under the situation. Keep up the good work. Keep us informed and keep the pictures coming.

not much progress today. the trunk goes up and down, would have got the doors but I broke my tap. now I have to wait till the snap on guy comes to finish them up.

I know, we had a "meeting" at the shop the other day and my boss asked what are goal is at the shop, and I spouted out build quality cars, and he said NO it's to make money for the shop. If I didn't need the money I would just quit. he really gets on my nerves. Any body know of a place looking to hire an ASE certified mechanic for 15 bucks an hour? My boss told me it doesn't have to drive good it just has to look good, cuz he's gunna sell it on Ebay. I told him that aint going to fly with me. I told him any vehicle associated with me is going to be right, he's not very happy with that but I don't really care lol. One thing thats cool about my boss is that he buys what ever I want to build. I told him I wanted to build a model A ford hot rod and he bought one for me to build then I finished that and I told him I wanted to build a cobra he said ok and he got one for me to build lol

No reason you can't build quality and still make money. Actually sounds like a good place to work. Beats the heck out of oil changes and brake jobs. Pretty cool how you get to build what you want.

I made the E brake bracket out of the old power steering pump bracket, I had to shorten both of the cables and one of the sleeves but I think it will work well. Most of the engine is together, I hope to fire it up tomorrow. Thanks for all the input.

I re did the spark plug wires 3 times to try and make them "flow" better, But the HO firing order really puts the wires in an ac-ward place on the distributor cap, that was the best that I could do. I really like a clean looking wire running. I can make a 18436572 look great. I haven't mastered the ford yet. maybe I'm just used to clockwise rotation.

I think that your "Boss" should think about the future Lawsuits that may arise from the sale of this car.
The frame needs to have gusset's welded at the joints on the frame. Also there does not appear to be any cross members in the frame and the seat supports also need to have vertical and horizontal gussets to prevent twisting of the main frame rails. I would not drive that car faster than 5 miles an hour. I ........dunno......!!!!

I thought it was a bit of a dodgy setup at first but thefordguy claims he builds his way and not his boss's ruff ways. Hope that holds.
Considering how fast and far you have got so far I don't think it will take you long to have it driveable, then pull it down and toughen things up.

Mind you, I wouldn't neccesarily drive it over 50 mph ATM, but..... since it's not mine I would.
Keep pluggin along mate.

there are actually 6 cross members, And 8 gussets, and the entire frame is 1/4" steel. I don't claim to be an expert frame builder but for a 302 I think It's a bit over built. If I jack it up on one corner and it teeter totters between the jack and the one remaining wheel on the ground with out flexing I would say It's pretty stiff. But, correct me if I'm wrong I'll build it better. I've never built a frame or a cobra before so any input/suggestions are appreciated, just don't be a dick about it. But anyway, I got it running today, fired right up on the first try. It sounds pretty mean, and no exhaust leaks from the headers I built thank god. 50 psi of oil pressure at idle! I made a movie of it cranking up but I can't seem to get it from my phone to the computer Any weber carb gurus here? when I bring it off idle it makes a little backfire out of the carbs which would suggest it's too lean, but when I rev it up and let off it backfires out of the exhaust which would suggest rich. or a timing issue. I have static timing set at 10 degrees advanced, and I moved it from 5 degrees to 20 degrees advanced and I still get the same backfires so I'm assuming it's in the carbs? I've never fooled with webers, I'm a holley guy. any tips are appreciated. also it does the same thing weather I open either carb or both. thanks

first off let me say thank you. how many people are worried about something fall apart at 6 MPH? secondly, dodgy? whats wrong with a mopar? and yes that will hold I'll quit before I make something that I don't feel is quality, let alone drivable. Lastly, since the body is not at all mounted to the frame yet. I wouldn't even drive it 50 ATM, but 6 yes I probably would.

I'm no expert but dont you have those carbs on backwards ??
plus i think Edelbrock has a pair of specially jetted carbs for the
dual quad set ups....you might want to call the tech line and
find out what they have to say about it....keep up the good work..
