Yes John, the chassis is stiffer than before. It increased by calculated 5000 lbs over 90x64 diagonal torsion test in SolidWorks Pro.

The body including the trunk lid, hood and doors totals 39 pounds.

Quick check about the windshield height.

The first part of the rollbar is fixed and has the same height as the windshield. The rollbar will be braced forward - thus it needs more work.

Tubular sub frame for the rear part of the body - later also base for the door lock.

Rear passenger side splash shield welded in place.

Inside view of it.

The driver side, as you can see I mostly work on two or more places at the same time. This is the final version of the dashboard.

Time to start on the sway bar.

Stay tuned. Soon I will fabricate the inner frames for the hood, trunk and doors. The door latches should come in any day.

Since your quick jacks are functional, are you going to fabricate one of the original style quick jack lifts?

I made this quick jack a few years ago - that is a 750 lbs bike which this one was effortless to move and secure.
The quick jack for the 289FIA will be longer and has wheels. 6 foot in total length and fold-able.

Pete:

45 degrees is a good place to start for an FIA windscreen...some guys have gone a bit lower than that - closer to 43 degrees... It makes the look of the car, IMHO.

Yes Allen, 45 degrees that I had in mind too. The roll bar loop height was measured with the 45 deg. angle.

BTW: did you notice the dent near the passenger head light?

Ha..no I did not...my gaze usually stops at the sight of webers..

Considering that's CSX2345, I guess it's allowed to have a dent or two.

Dash fabrication, I elected the drop-down style for the switches.

First test fit, the angle is perpendicular to the steering column/wheel.

These are the tabs which hold the dash board.

There are 8 mounting points for the dash.

Brake-fluid reservoir mounting bracket made from stainless steel.

Front showing. The Hydroboost is too close to the frame, the solution is to make the reservoir remote.

PA side bracket for the anti-roll bar (sway bar).

Preliminary setup, the 1 inch bar will be shortened later on.

Connectors cut, welded and assembled.

Torsion bar shortened, spline bushing welded.

PA side shown installed the complete Anti-Roll-Bar.

DR side and top view.

Harrison engine coolant overflow tank.

Bracket for the tank. The tank needs to be on the left side because of the later on plumping of the super-charger.

Right now I'm kicking the idea around of a small turkey pan with a square K&N filter on top.
This would eliminate under hood pressure created by the hood scoop. Besides that, it would deliver denser air to the system.

A little while ago I fetched on craigslist a table lift. The lift was leaking and I got it for a very good price (5c on the dollar). Seals and paint $150 and I have a great lift. I removed the table top and welded cross bars in it. The table top weighs 220 pounds, the lift is rated 2000 pounds (now 2200).

Now I finished up the door support - the plate was temporary now it is tubing like the backside surrounding the splash plate. The triangle is the center body mount.

More body mounts, top pic is the middle support of the hood. The center is the fascia support. The bottom one is the rear wheel housing support.

Safety drive shaft loop and cross brace. The brace is on a spot where you typically push your self out of the seat.

Cutting holes for the windshield and make sur it sits in the middle.

Driver side bracket.

Preparing the weld-in stocks - bolt them on and round them up and welded them in place. The windshield frame stands off 3/16 inch of the body - only the rubber seal touches.

The windshield has now an angle of 137 (43) degree of level ground.

I think the angle looks pretty good. Need to really get the car on the ground at it's resting stance, before you get too hung up on windshield angle.

Since you asked...

Question on your fuel cell. Looks like the placement will keep it out of the main rear crumple zone (and that is good), but mounted that high, what will it do to your roll center? Can Solid Works model that?

John, the roll center is calculated based on your suspension setup.

Do you mean roll axis?

Well, maybe I meant center of gravity.

I understand the roll axis to be the imaginary line connecting the roll centers at the front and the rear suspension points.

So maybe my question is, what impact is there on the suspension and handling by having the fuel tank higher or lower?
