Never mind the screaming villagers with the torches and pitchforks - Keep the progress pictures and updates coming. (Just make sure when its done you wrap it all up in a body that does it justice ;))

I agree- I love the creativity and engineering that goes into doing this. The Originality Police have lots of posts they can look at (in fact their very own forum!).

Cheers,

That 300SL was notorious for body flex, . . . so much for Finite Stress Analysis!

hey this looks familiar... is this an old cobra frame? Perhaps the best use for it.

Mate that looks bloody marvelous, old chap.
Dont worry about your American cousins some do tend to get a bit touchy if you go away from the original. The tube design does hide the fact u have a chevy in there Wait till they see that  Maybe the 19 inch rear rims will distract them a little longer
Have u decided what body u are going to use. Aluminium, fibreglass or carbon
Wonderful work.
Bruce

thanks Bruce we would like to use carbon to keep the modern theme up but we spent too much money all ready so it will have to be fiberglass,

and thank you guys for your support there will allways be those who are stuck in the past driving cars with chassis that resembles a flopy stepladder

how much easier/quicker will future frames be?

I have made jigs for every thing as i have gone along and my partner peter has been drawing everything as we go so we are ready to go into production straight away , but we want to get some test miles on this car before we start.
Gary.

Cool. It would be great to have some real world hard data to quiet the naysayers (cornering G's etc)

nealgs 05-08-2012 08:54 AM

saw this in the flesh on the DAX stand at Stoneleigh Sunday/Monday gone (I assume it was this one Gary? - don't think DAX had any other works of art on their stand :) )

And as mentioned ^ , it really is a stunning piece of work to see. The rear wheels are huge.

Awesome work Gary, keep us updated.

Mando 06-01-2012 05:07 PM

Beautiful work, no carpet!, hell I don't think I'd put the body on it. Fantastic.

Regards.

I think that chassis deserves a unique engine- whats the widest engine that would fit? I'm thinking Boss 429 (about 29" wide I think) or 427 SOHC. Looks like there is room for the engine width as the upper frame tubes seem quite high, the valve covers might just slide underneath?

Edit: might have to move the one upright tube the exhaust snakes around?

wheels look great, but 235's for the front seem a bit small: any reason for this?
