Now that the holidays are out of the way it's time to get cracking on this build.
Had a huge delay with my powder coating guy but I think we are back on track now.
Engine time,
mounted the fuel filter assembly finally ( powder coating delay) then made up some nice stainless lines.
Double flare AN ends.

Fuel lines for the engine finished, fabricated the fuel log to feed the race bowls for the Holley.
Made up the bracket to mount the oil filter adapter.
Got the alternator mounted, pulleys spaced correctly.
Started working on something to fit behind the cover under the alternator. |

Nice tank. Question, did you TIG weld the tank, or torch? The cleaning lines look so nice that my novice eyes can't tell.

I'm sure Craig will chime in but in my case, I have my alternator down low in that location due to the Twin Paxtons. Get the right size belt and there's ample space.

The hipo alternator pulley should just sneak in there I believe.

Looking nice Craig. The thing I dread the most is making oil lines and fuel lines, it is too easy to get them too long an have to cut them back, or even worse, too short  . Also, with the braided steel ones invariably my fingers become sore due to the puncture wounds from loose steel wire braids.

Wheels came out better than I could have imagined. So nice that I treated them to a new set of Avons...
Cobra should be on the ground over the next few weeks. Can't wait!!

The wheels turned out great, it was an exciting day to see the wheels finished and mount the new rubber.

On the fuel flare, I thought I was the only person to cheat the stainless to AN.
With the seam, I couldn't get a regular AN flare to seal, so I played with it and did a double flare (I think those are 45 degrees) then "fixed the angle with an AN (37 degree, but going from memory I may have the 2 swapped) flair tool.
I had quite a bit of these. My car is EFI and I wanted all fuel lines except a few feet for flex from the frame to engine to be 3/8" stainless. I didn't trust aluminum tube to not workharden then crack. At 40psi, a crack can spray a LOT of fuel.
So, were you able to find a tool to make a double AN flare, did you correct the angle with a second flare tool, or just leave the flare the wrong angle?

Thanks, we like the outcome as well on the wheels.
The coating is a powder coating we came up with. |
