The body is very nice, Thank you!
I have had the shinny and brushed finish, but for me paint is the way to go

Now for my shop/demo car I may leave raw Aluminum just to show off the construction and workmanship of the build, (but will not be polished).

Kevin has the big decision ahead of him, what ever he chooses I'm sure it will look great.

I finally found some time to fly down to VA this week to visit Craig and my car (not necessarily in that order) and I could not be happier with how the body turned out. My goal is to build a replica of an early comp car with FIA wheels and dry sump and Craig absolutely nailed the body proportions – especially the rear fenders. Nice and wide but without the S/C "lip". The body is officially done and now Craig is doing the final shaping, panel fitting and riveting of the body to the frame. After that he will fabricate all the inner panels, complete the cut-outs, set the ride height and then the car is off to paint. I cannot begin to express how happy I am with what Craig has done to get my Cobra build back on track. He is great to work with and his fabrication skills are amazing. Anyway, I will let the pictures do the talking...

Since I left VA, Craig has been very busy putting the final touches on the alloy body. As always, incredible workmanship...

Body perimeter is fully riveted to the frame. FIA wheels are looking mighty fine and the headlight & parking light cutouts are finished...

It was nice having you at the shop Kevin, I am excited to be building this one with you, the unique options you have opted for will truly make this car a special one.
I will be finishing up with another car in the shop over the next couple of weeks then back onto this one.

It's been a very busy past few months finishing up some other projects.

Now that I have those out of the way it's time to get back onto Kevin's project.

Today I got the foot boxes trimmed and fitted, firewall made up and fitted as well.

Craig is making great progress on all of the inner panels and the workmanship is absolutely amazing. It won't be long now before she goes out for paint!!

Craig,
You've made a really nice job of the body, I'm learning the process of metalshaping and made a few panels in aluminium. Looking at your panels, there doesn't seem to be any wheeling marks, I'd expect to see just a few, this makes me think they are more stretch/hammer formed like the Kirkham process?, just an amateur wanting to learn more.

Hi Martin,

The body was made with an English wheel, various hammers and a buck, just like in the old days. If you are serious about pursuing metal shaping, I would highly recommend taking the class taught by Wray Schelin at Pro Shaper. I actually made the hood for this Cobra while taking Wray's 4 day class and I have attached the link showing the process. It is well worth the money and it is an awesome experience:
