Default Mainely Classics..where did they go??

I was wondering if anyone knew what happended to Mainely Classics. They made a 427 Cobra and an MX Sebring in Biddeford, Maine.

From what I saw, they made some very good quality cars but seem to no longer be operating in Maine.

Does anyone know what happended to these folks? They were featured in Kit Car Illustrated back in the late 1990's.

Thank you!

vettehead,
You mean 'Tony"? The kits were Clasic Roadsters kits, short story... Tony took over unoffically when Classic Roadsters went into bankruptcy. Problem was Tony had no authorization from the owners. He even went so far as to use their brochures. Gary Rutherford, owner of CR at the time threatend Tony with every law suit imaginable. Tony packed up and basically disappeared.

Double Venom - Thank you for the update! It was Tony, exactly right! That's a real shame! I had gone to their factory several years back and they had quite an operation there.

I have just been putting the finishing touches on my 70 Camaro and was going to sell that and my Vette together to finance a Cobra. When I asked a car buddy of mine that lives down that way he never even heard of the place. When he took a ride down where their factory was he said there was no signs of them of them ever being there.

Thanks for helping me out!
