What guage or thickness of aluminum should I use for the cockpit, trunk, wheel wells, etc....?

I have a chance to pick up some scrap aluminum sheet for .25/lb so thought I would pick some up when I'm in the area of the sheet metal shop today

18 Ga (.045") and 16 Ga (.062") are both useful thicknesses.
