Default Which body are you using??

I was curious as to which body shell you scratch builders are using?? Was curious if anyone had a source for a really inexpensive body shell in the 90 inch wheelbase.

I spoke to a vehicle inspector in my state and there doesn't seem to be much that would stop me from using a very light race shell over my frame. I see that some sites say 'for race use only' but I'm thinking that could be an option now.

Thanks.

Depends on what type of chassis you decide to use. If you use a non-stressed body like the Shelby, Kirkham, or FFR you will have a very light body and your overall weight will probably be around 2200 lbs or so.
I was able to buy a Carbon Fiber body from the guy who supplied my partially completely CSX style chassis . It is VERY light and strong.

Lots of kit manufacturers will sell you just a body and I see them quite often for sale on ebay and other sites like craigslist.

The cheaper the body is, usualy equates to more finishing work. I payed 1600 for my body on ebay, but it will need a lot of work. Facrory five runs 3500 to 4000, and is in realy good shape to begin with.

I'm using a Allied 289 (thick street) slabside body. The body I have was on CSX-2575 from 1966 till 1998 when I restored it. I had to build a OEM/AC bird cage chassis the body has no support other than the birdcage. So far I've only found 3 bodies mine Cobra Chuck and one in Michigan.
Mr. Bruce made molds from my body and is reproducing them Now & FIA 289 bodies...

Hi,

I am new to the forum, so forgive me if this question has been addressed before. Where can someone buy an Allied 289 body or any other 289 street car body? I have a chassis and would like to put a skin on it.
