Fitting footboxes?
What is the secret to mounting the footboxes? I seem to have forgotten the secret handshake or magic words or something?
I have Tim Gunning's footboxes and I can't seem to get them to fit up perfectly. Also, once I have them close, I can't seem to get the top lips lined up so the firewall will line up. I've got them almost in place but not sure where to go from there. How do they mount relative to the 3/4" square tube? Does the driver's footbox bolt to the 3/4" square tubing?
I also have the Tim Gunning firewall and I wonder why I can't seem to get it to fit once the footboxes are in place? I thought it wouldn't require trimming since it is predrilled for the mounting holes and punched for the birdcage and wiring entrance holes.
Has anyone else been through this and how did you manage these pieces? No instructions with the parts so I'm counting on you guys to guide me through while I still have some hair left!
One of the reasons I really need to get this right is I am using the Wilwood hanging pedals and need to find a mounting system for the pedals in the footbox somehow. But I can't design something until I get this part figured out first.
Thanks,
Bob

Bob
They better fit. I waited on them for 2 months from Tim Then you got them from me. Mickmate or KarlCSX2498 had some instructions, i believe posted at one time. I never had the parts together but like you said, the holes came pre-drilled on the firewall.
I'll see what I can find.

Dave,
Thanks- I'm wondering if the fitment issue is more one of the differences in chassis build than anything else. Tim mentioned something to this effect, but I didn't understand it until I tried to install them .
Actually, they are very close now. I just don't want to screw them up but cutting in the wrong places. Also, I built my birdcage so I'm wondering if perhaps this indicates my birdcage isn't quite where it is supposed to be?
So many questions, so few brain cells left!

Tim G's foot box details:
Hey Bob, Send me your email address and I will forward a copy of Tim's detailed instructions. I have the CNC firewall & the footboxes, I had no trouble at all with the firewall fitting properly or getting it straight to meet the top edge of the boxes.
I did have to move the "A" shaped vertical tubes that extend from the cowl hoop down to the main 4" tubes. I had to move them toward the center approx. 1/2" each.
my email: karlmckeever@verizon.net
Later, Karl

I've gotta go back and reread my instructions but initial fitting looks like they'll need quite a bit of scalloping of the bottom outside corners to get them wide enough for a tunnel and to fit in the cowl hoop. Karl you got a close up shot of how those corners finished up?
