Well if you buy a Kirkham or a CSX there is a good chance "your done", you pretty well nailed it right there.
Buying almost anything else could lead to reservations like "I coulda, woulda, shoulda."
Still, even with the BEST and the ideal options there is still one HUGE unknown. Will you actually drive it or will it sit in the garage 99% of the time? You can make a strong case for buy cheap, try it, see if you like it first.
